What’s your BB pin??

April 11, 2009

It’s a black device that has overcome our city! It’s an extraordinary gadget that takes control of our hands! It’s a new trend I like to call (What’s your BB pin?). It’s the wonderfully odd trend of buying a blackberry.

I was walking by the hallway of my school today, and I witnessed a scene. A scene that has been repeating A LOT these days. A couple of my friends holding their BlackBerrys exchanging their BB pin! So what’s up with the new trend? Okay before I sound like a hypocrite, I’m gonna admit now that I plan on buying one (a). But what I’m thinking is why do we need it? Wasn’t blackberry known that it was for business men/women. Why all of a sudden half of our “what I like to call”> DAS community are buying a device that a lot don’t even know how to use. Or don’t even use the advantages that can be offered by this amazing device.bb-blog1

We all have that picture of us wearing high heels when we were 6 years old, trying as hard as possible to look like our mom. Or for a 6 year old boy holding a razor blade wanting to start shaving like his father. I look at this trend as exactly that. But now, it’s a bit more expensive. A device that makes us look cool just by holding it in front of adults, so that they would recognize us as one of them rather than the “little ones”. I personally have a good reason to buy my BB. I enjoy working with electronics, and I plan on using every feature that BB has offer. Starting with the BB M feature, till its network and config. Settings.

A friend of mine wants to buy one, her parents agreed to buy it for her if and only if she gives a good reason for why she wants to buy it! I honestly agree 100% with her parent’s decision. Why buy something if you’re not going to get the most of it. Or if u don’t even need it.
What I like to say is NOT to buy it if it’s a trend. NOT to buy it if you’re not going to use it, or only cuz u like its looks or the covers that comes with it. Don’t waste your money on something that you will leave when others will.

Are people buying it because it’s a trend? Or are they buying it because they like it? The iPhone phase is now slowly fading and the BB phase has just begun. A trend like that is turning our hands into little chopsticks that keep on clicking little buttons all day long. At weddings, gatherings, school, or even funerals from what I heard.

We started making choices since we were born. What do you like to eat?, what shoes are you going to wear? What class are you going to attend? Will you eat that chocolate bar or stick to the diet? Will you ditch class or attend it? Should I buy a BB? If I will, will it be curve or bold?.. Our life is filled with choices that by time will start to reveal on our personality, looks and feelings. Sometimes our decisions will work out for us, and other times we might regret them. So think! Think before you do anything, ask the Q “why”? answering that question will reflect your own personality and taste into any choice you make, either its buying something or just acting the way you choose to.
